NASCAR Whelen Modified points leader Ryan Preece looks to make first Sprint Cup start at Loudon

Posted by Wayne G. Barber

Ryan Preece hopes to make his Sprint Cup debut at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with Tommy Baldwin Racing on September 27.
Preece has three XFINITY Series starts with TBR including two at NHMS and the season ending Homestead Track in Florida. The 24-year-old Kensington, Conn.-native posted a career-high 14th at Loudon in his second start.
“I’m very excited,” Preece told the "Race Chatter". “I’m really looking forward to it.”
Ryan Preece loves to race at Riverhead, New York with a outstanding record and is closing in on a very first National Points Championship.
Ryan Preece, who won the title in NASCAR’s Whelen Modified Tour in 2013, is the current points leader of the series. He’s scored three wins this season — including last night at Stafford Speedway in Connecticut— the most competitive weekly SK Mod Division in the Country with five top fives and nine top-10 finishes in 117 starts.
Preece has also campaigned on the Whelen Southern Modified this season where in four starts he’s earned three poles — including at South Boston Speedway where he went on to win in April.
Preece practiced a Super Modified last year at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park and stated on the Race Chatter that he does plan on racing in the end of the year North-South shootout on his favorite track down south.
The former NASCAR Next driver will have TBR teammate Alex Bowman to lean on at Loudon next month.
