The Big Three, NASCAR Champions are Crowned

NASCAR crowned its top three divisional champions this weekend in Homestead, Fla.
Matt Crafton #88 became the first Camping World Truck Series driver to repeat in his hot Toyota over #29 Ryan Blaney in his Ford who had entered the race 25 points back. He drove for Thor Racing. KBM Racing , Kyle Busch claimed the Owners Championship, third overall and in a tie #31 Ben Kennedy Chevrolet wins the Rookie of the Year, because of a higher finish in the final standings against #19 Ford driver Tyler Reddick.
Bill Elliot's son Chase Elliot became the youngest champion and rookie of the year in the same year in the second highest division, Nation Wide Series in a race car owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Dba as JR Motorsports. Look for Elliot to take one of the seats at Hendrick Motorsports with either Jeff Gordon hanging it up or Kasey Kahne being replaced and Hendrick capped at 4 drivers.
 The Elliot family become the fifth father & son combo to complete the feat. Jarrett's Ned &Dale, Pettys Lee & Richard, Pearsons David & Larry,  Earnhardts Dale and Dale Jr. in the top three divisions. The championship is the third for Earnhardt Jr.who was the two time owner for Martin Truex Jr. at Chace Racing before Truex Jr. made the leap to Mikey Waltrip and Napa. The excitement built all weekend for a first time , top finisher, winner take all in the Sprint Cup. All 4 participants were seeking their very first championship. Denny Hamlin a bridesmade once to Jimmi Johnson in (2010) a heart breaker and Kevin Harvick who finished third three times in his 13 year career in Cup. 2010,2011,2013 all with RCR Racing after replacing Dale Earnhardt. At age 38, Harvick also garnered Chevrolet its 38 Manufactures Championship for the bow-tie. Budweiser's 2nd championship, 1985 Darrell Waltrip and 66 wins for the sponsor with numerous drivers. Harvick showed the most speed all year and led the most laps and could have won a few more races with some better luck. In 502 career Sprint Cup starts, Harvick now has 28 career wins. Never known for being a great qualifier, Harvick nailed 8 poles in 2014 and 20 top tens. #42 Kyle Larson captured the Rookie of the Year award. Harvick joins Bobby Labonte and Brad Keselowski as champions in both of NASCAR's top divisions. Harvick is a two time champion in the Nationwide Series coming in 2001 & 2006. All told Harvick has accomplished 8 Championships in his racing career.

This also marks the first championship for crew chief Rodney Childers in NASCAR
This is also the second Sprint Cup Championship for owners Tony Stewart and Gene Haas.

This is Stewart's 21st Championship as a race car owner. The empire of Stewart/Haas works out of Kannapolis, NC. in a 140,000 square foot facility and employ 270 people for their 4 race teams.
