NEMA ,Randy Cabral Wins Again ! Oswego, New York

                                                        NEMA  Midgets
Oswego, New York   The rain gods won the event on Saturday, so the crews stayed over to complete the race late in the season and a very long trip for a lot of the crews to have a chance to run the 5/8s mile surface. The race only took just over 7 minutes to complete the 25 lap feature.
Cabral who hails from Kingston, Mass.is a force in the division with 4 championships to his credit and with two races to go padded his lead today. Superstar John Zych gave it all he had and Cabral reeled him in and then passed him on the final turn for the fan pleasing win. This was Cabral's fifth win of the 2014 season.
Michael Barnes of Mexico, New York set the early pace of the race for 15 laps before Zych touched his nerf bar and then wrestled the lead away from him. Zych turned on the afterburners and started turning mid 16's second laps and a speed of 137 miles per hour. He was looking for his second victory of the season and then got caught up by slower traffic with Bethany Stoehr of Bridgewater, Mass. His hot rod got loose and drifted high and that's all it took for Cabral to capitalize on the situation. Zych still started to reach to stretch his lead to 6 car lengths. On the white flag three race cars tangled up in front of him. A slight hesitation was all Cabral needed to snatch the win. They raced side by side out of turn 4 and Cabral earned the victory by one tenth of a second !
Zych's motor popped on the cool down lap and stopped the race car in turn two and missed the podium ceremonies. Barnes took third and hard nose driver Doug Cleveland of Sudbury, Mass.took the 4 spot. His best finish of the 2014 racing season. Last years Oswego winner, Seth Carlson of Brimfield, Mass. Paul Scally, Raynam ,Mass.Avery Stoehr, Lakeville,Mass. and Pennsylvania's Ian Cummings followed over the finish line.
The NEMA Lights had brothers Scott and Ryan Bigelow of East Hampton, Conn. driving the dominate race cars. Even after a late restart the brothers were not going to be denied to the finish line.
The only caution came out on lap 17 when the race car driven by Danny Cugini started to lose power and was unable to make it back to the pit road infield. The race took 9 minutes to complete.
Next race for the NEMA'S and the Lights is at Waterford Speedbowl, Conn. The last race for the gas fired Lights. The final for the Nema's will be at the World Series of Racing at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, Conn. Source material supplied by Pete Falconnnni/ NEMA PR
